“A JOURNEY TO THE LADDER OF SUCCESS”
‘’ Teaching is not just a job. It is a human service, and it must be thought of as a mission.'
Off- campus teaching serves as an evidence for me to say that I really learn from my previous years of study at our university but that is about how we apply into actions our learnings and how are we going to deal with our students every day and how are we going to accept our flaws and improve our outputs. Truly, the real world of teaching is quite different from the world we used to deal with as a student. Compared to the routines as I used to do when I am still a student, it is somewhat difficult to adjust from the time to sleep and time to arise. Sleeping 11:00 in the evening after I finished my paper works became 12:00 – 1:00 in the morning because I needed to finish my daily lesson plans and instructional materials and studying it at the same time and waking up as early as 4:00 in the morning.
The first encounter with my students was smooth because they were very silent, obedient, and can easily processed and performed the task I have given to them. One of the problems I encountered was, when the students were very noisy, what I did is just to sit and keep quiet. In that case they all keep quiet and stop doing their own business at the back because they know that I don’t like noisy students, which is the time I proceed with my discussion and they started to listen carefully and attentively.
Seeing my students learning from me gives me different level of happiness. Happiness that I am the only one can feel and no one can steal. It gives me strength to be more enthusiastic in teaching. I remembered when one of my students give me a note saying, “Thank you Teacher”. It made me realized how my previous teachers said that they are so very lucky though their salary is not that high but if they hear their children say thank you they felt the fulfillment.
Personally, I experienced those hardships like to be compared with other teacher but I just ignored to because in my own perspective, personal challenges are just one way of testing me if I will be able to surpass it but at the end I am the one who will work hard in order for me to succeed. According to one of my previous lesson, ‘’We are not here only to live and survive, but to go beyond that…which is to succeed” because if I know that if I don’t have that challenges, there is no room for improvement and I will not be able to determine the things I need to develop to myself.
Lastly, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to ma’am Devz for being my critique teacher, adviser, and motivator in my journey as student teacher. To ma’am Mayeth who became my second mother and to whom I ask questions when needed. To all my students who made me realized and love this profession and to my family who are always there to support me financially, emotionally, morally, and spiritually, thank you very much for giving me strength and courage to overcome this challenge and among all Is God for guiding me every day as I faced the reality of teaching and who made this possible and a success.
I will end this by this one, ‘’ The ladder of success is not always crowded “. A quotation that echoes inmy mind from one of my student. Truly, we should strive hard for us to achieve that success we are aiming no matter what and no matter how hard it may be, just remain humble and keep going.
